Peeking out.

This is my first attempt at blogging, whatever that may mean. For me, it is a little like peeking out from behind a curtain at a large audience potentially full of hostile ignorant people. What do I say to them once I stride out onto the stage.

Welcome friends!

I do not know how this works, technically, but if I continue to be interested I will develop the skill. Otherwise it will languish. Let's see how this goes first.

  1. A ha. Found you. As a long-time blogger with, literally, more than a HALF-DOZEN regular readers...I say: "Hello."

And I've found that, generally, those hostile, ignoramuses have better things to do that troll random blogs. So not to worry -- you're among friends here.

  2. It is my theory that any human behavior that persists for a very long time, thousands of years if not millions, does so because in some way it helps our species to survive. It may not be obvious, it may also appear outrageously awful, even evil, but, it is also my theory that "NATURE" (what ever the hell that is) does not care at all about the survival of the individual, only about the species.

That is why it's my theory that WAR, in all of it's manifestations exists. That is, it helps us to survive as a specie. How? Stirring up the gene pool. I can't think of any other human activity that does a better job of getting a population up and moving and humping. I told you this was going to be outrageous. This means that all of the excuses for WAR, are pointless justifications for a biological process we don't really understand and are not in control of. Not yet. Maybe never. If you don't think the gene pool needs stirring than you should consider the well known fact, supported by many census's (censi?) that 75% of humans are born, live, and die withing 25 miles of their birthplace. That kind of clustering can only be bad over time as it makes inbreeding unavoidable. There may come a day when we populate this planet to a point where inbreeding becomes unavoidable. This why I am such a big supporter of the space program.
